TEKS: (9) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to select and use units to describe length, area, and time. The student is expected to: (A) find the length of objects using concrete models for standard units of length;
Concept: Finding the length of objects using standard units of length. (TEKS 2.9.A)
Objective: Students will identify the length of 10 out of 15 objects using concrete models for standard units of length.

manipulative activity
Students will be put into groups and will measure objects in the room such as a chair, table, markers, etc. Then they will write it down in their math journals. Student will be paired up with a partner and they will measure each other using the inches measuring tape and convert it into feet. The teacher will write on the board “There are 12 inches in 1 foot” that way the students are able to covert inches into feet. Students will need to measure how tall they are in inches and divide by 12 to figure out how tall they are in feet.
